Financial advisor

« Back to Glossary Index

A specialist service provider who delivers financial and/or investment management services based upon education, credentialling, and experience.

A financial advisor provides advisory services primarily focused on services nested within the Financial and Investment Management domain, regardless of the job title or label used to describe themselves within their firm. These may include financial planning, asset management, investment management, understanding of tax planning and management, financial aspects of a family business or other entities in the family enterprise, and many other services focused on managing the wealth of a client family

Financial advisors working with the complexity of UHNW clients would also be adept at many of the essential skills described in the Family-Advisory Relationships domain. These may include good skills in client interviewing and discovery, empathic communication, ability to explain concepts well without excessive jargon, and ability to collaborate with other advisors and firms.
