The UHNW wealth segment comprising individuals or families with a net worth from $100 million (USD) to $1 billion (USD)
The UHNW segment of wealth has traditionally started at either $30 million US dollars (USD) or $50 million USD and extended upward with no limit. With inflation, increases in global wealth, and changes in family office services and costs, the UHNW segment has started to differentiate itself into levels. Although there are no official standards or guidelines yet, a growing number of wealth firms and advisors are using the term centimillionaire to denote families with at least $100 million USD. These families have unique needs and service demands related to their increased complexity, compared to UHNW families between $30 million and $100 million. More colloquial terms such as “the superwealthy” or “the uberwealthy” have also been used for this cohort, but these terms are less precise and risk having negative associations in comparison to general society.
At the upper boundary of $1 billion USD and above, the proper term would be a billionaire family.
